Starr-Mathews Agency, Inc. is a locally-owned independent insurance agency serving clients in Georgia and Tennessee. The principals include James S. Mathews, W. Craig Mashburn, Robert H. Mathews and W. Barton Mathews.

Founded in 1920

This agency has been built on a solid foundation of integrity, honesty, and hard work. Jim Mathews’ grandfather, James H. Starr, started the agency in 1920 to serve the community of Calhoun, Georgia. In 1953 Mr. Starr was joined by his son in law, Bill D. Mathews. The agency expanded to include offices throughout Northwest Georgia. As the third generation family member, Jim Mathews joined the agency in 1977 and we are now proud to welcome a fourth generation with Robert and Barton Mathews.
